how it started

Sankranti was founded by Srinivasa “Nimms” Nimagadda and his wife, Kavitha Nimmagadda. After a successful entrepreneurial career, Nimms’ passion for Indian cooking inspired him to open a fine-dining Indian restaurant in 2016. But rather than satisfying the itch to share Indian food with others, this experience fueled his passion even more.

The elephant in Sankranti’s logo reflects the powerful meaning of the elephant in Indian culture, where elephants symbolize virtues like wisdom, strength, and peace.

Ella’s decorations are the shape of star anise and were inspired by the amazing painted elephants that play a role in Indian festivals like Holi.

Lastly, Ella’s smile and playful posture remind us to celebrate each step of the journey!
